In Munich's old town there are a lot of cool shops and delicious restaurants. It's easy to get to the old town from the Munich train station. Leave the station and head east. After a short mile walk, you're there! You'll know when you've reached the old city center because the streets change from paved asphalt to rugged cobblestone.
You might begin to feel as though you've entered another time period when you walk into the old town. Just imagine that you're back in the Middle Ages when kings and queens ruled, horse drawn carriages swarmed the streets, and vendors sold dried legs of pork and squawking chickens!
One of the most famous sights in Munich's old town is the Rathaus-Glockenspiel. Check out my snap shot!
The Glockenspiel is located in the Marienplatz, which is Munich's central square. This is a large clock that chimes everyday at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 5 p.m. When the clock chimes, figurines of royal dukes and knights rotate around on platforms located in the Glockenspiel's tower. The architecture alone is worth a visit!
